Budva has the typical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot and dry summers. It does not have particularly big temperature differences, extreme precipitation, and wind forces and, therefore, the climatic conditions are more uniform compared to the neighboring areas.
Hot days, with temperatures above 30.0° C are most common in July: 9.8. Cold days, the days with temperatures below zero are most common in January: 2. 0. Budva has 2,300 sunny hours annually. An average temperature in summer is 23.1°C and, in winter, 9.3°C. An average annual temperature is 15.8°C.
An annual quantity of precipitation is 1,626 mm. The highest precipitation is in November, 232 mm, the lowest in July, 35 mm.
On the Budva’s Riviera, the sea temperature is 11. 7°C in February and 24. 7°C in August. From May to October, the sea temperature is on the average above 18°C. The bathing season starts on May 10 and lasts up to November 8, i.e. 182 days.
The winds are most frequent from the northern quadrant, and they are most frequent from October to March.
Bora or the north-easter wind is a strong wind, which blows from the land. Bora is the wind of clear and nice weather, but the storm is the most dangerous wind on the Adriatic. Luckily, in Budva, it is quite rare. As a rule, it does not appear in summer months, it is more frequent in November and December.
The souther or south-wind accompanies cloudy and rainy weather and it blows from the sea towards the land. It is most frequent in winter when the precipitation is the highest. That wind, however, is favorable for the spreading of the Mediterranean vegetation.
Sea breeze, northwesterly, follows the direction of our coast. It blows in summer; it is pleasant and refreshing. It starts blowing around 10 a.m., and stops blowing around 5 p.m. It is suitable for sailing and surfing.
