Fig Festival took place in the Memorial Home of Rezevici”, on 6th September, with the beginning at 05.00 pm. After last-year success, a great number of visitors of this one-day manifestation was not a surprise, so we took care that all the fig-meal lovers feel at home. The festivaltends to save from oblivion the tradition of growing figs, but also to promote this very nutritious and healthy fruit that can be found in abundance especially in the rural part of theMunicipality of Budva.
Figs have always been grown in Budva’s area, for centuries ago. There is almost no house in Grbalj, Maine, Pobore, Brajici and Pastrovici villages without a big fig tree.
Figs are one of the firstly cultivated fruit sorts. To be more exact, an offspring of a fig is a flower actually, but it is considered a fruit. Yet in the ancient times, figs were dried so as to last for a longer period of time. Fig tree was planted in Paradise Garden, while fig is the most frequently mentioned fruit in the Bible.
This is the way we promote something that is ours but not so much the matter of our attention.
